Losing weight isn’t all about the food.
I still notice it a lot, all around me and on social media, that a lot of people think losing weight is all about the food and losing “10 pounds in 10 days”.
No, it goes way deeper than that.
Because oftentimes, when you’re a yo-yo dieter, you are used to losing weight, and knowing deep down, at a certain point you will gain it back.
I know you are already aware of this – so if it isn’t just about the food, then what is it about?
Here’s What It’s About…
There is something that’s holding you back, maybe internally, externally (or both) from reaching and maintaining your goal weight.
I know this because it’s the story of so many of my clients…And for myself.
When my oldest son was four years old, I was going through a lot of very traumatic shit…too much to get into in a simple blog post…but I can tell you that I became very skinny.
Like, beyond anorexia skinny. That was really a traumatic experience for me.
Especially because, for a good portion of my life before that, I was frequently living that kind of unhealthy skinny.
This was when I started suffering from bulimia. Any weight loss I had was always tied into that , so it never felt good. It never felt healthy, or whole.
I would lose weight, but quickly gian it back. Anorexia becoming bulimia, becoming weight gain, leading us back full circle.
Sometimes I would manage to stop the bulimia, but it was only because I was now on the diet/binge/diet binge train. So, again, it wasn’t real, or whole, or healthy.
That cycle went on for oh…about 8 years.
I would try to lose weight, succeed at that goal, but then gain back the weight I lost, plus a fair amount more.
Which is when I realized that this process of always returning to a heavier version of myself was a safety blanket for me.
Because of the traumatic experience I went through when I was so skinny.
Subconsciously, I didn’t want to go back to that skinny time again, because my mind was terrified of being in that place, all stemming from that trauma.
That’s what I want you all to know about this process…that’s why it isn’t all about the food.
We wouldn’t have 1,000 different types of diets if it was, and most of us wouldn’t have these stories of constant weight loss and weight gain.
It Is Possible
Weight loss is about digging deep, and really doing that is harder than saying no to a piece of cake on your birthday.
That’s what we do in my coaching program, the Rebels Weight Loss Club. Spending time guiding you, and working you through all that deep down stuff, all your sticky things.
Our live one on one sessions, they’re not talking about food, “oh, I ate this and I ate that” – paging through food journals and yelling at you for eating Halloween Oreo’s.
It’s working together to help each other understand how weight loss that lasts is more than just starving yourself.
That it’s overcoming all of those limiting beliefs that you hold in your head, sabotaging your success.
Because your success can happen, and it can be a healthy sustainable thing. It is possible, and I’m talking about the long run.
We’ll work together to put you on a nutrition plan for your lifestyle, that is healthy and sustainable and matches your ideas, feelings and beliefs around nutrition.
But more than that, we’re going to find that thing that makes you want to make the right decisions, by finding your purpose and passion in life (because that’s a big thing too)!
I know that was one of the hardest things for me. Being a mother was a big step, such a huge part of my life, but I always knew there was more for me.
And that’s what the rebel weight loss club is to me. It’s my reason for making the right decisions.
